The Real Meaning of Change

As we look forward to 2013, I am reminded of a quote from the book “Taking Charge of Change”, by Shirley Hord, et. al. that shares learnings based on the study of how to effectively improve schools.
We tend to see school improvement in terms of new curriculum, a new program or package- something concrete that we can hold onto. But in doing so, we forget that books and materials and equipment alone do not make change; only people can make change by altering their behavior. The real meaning of any change lies in its human, not its material, component.”
As you approach this new year, what tiny steps will you take in the direction of positive change for yourself and your organization?
